At the time of Louis XIV, Versailles was not the just the capital of France, for it was also a town which was a great deal larger than it is today. The royal family and the Court resided here along with numerous traders and artisans, and it was during the period that the center of France revolved around its Sun King. It is for this reason that the château is so immense as it was necessary to provide accommodation for everyone, welcome them, support them and feed them. The visit to the Royal Apartments retraces these sumptuous period in the history of France. The Hall of Mirrors, famous for the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, was used for larger receptions during which Louis XIV would want to impress his guest. The visit of the château will end a visit to Marie-Antoinette’s private apartments.

Discover la Cité de l’Architecture, which has opened its doors to the public in September 2007. Created in 1880 this museum of France’s monumental art and mural painting, comprising casts and replicas was the brainchild of the Gothic Revival and restorer of medieval monuments Viollet-le-duc. Because of a fire, the museum was closed for many years and has been totally transformed and restored into a great museum with a very modern decoration. The 3 galleries are now one and will introduce the visitor to the French architecture from the XII century until today with all its specificities: aesthetical, functional, technical, special and urban.

Departure in the morning for the Seine valley and after one hour driving you will reach Giverny, temple of the impressionist movement where Claude Monet settled at the end of his life. You will visit his house restored with the furniture and bright colours of the time and see his collection of Japanese prints.
As you stroll through the French and Japanese gardens both created by Monet with impressionist colours, you will arrive to the lilypound that provided the inspiration for his last works of art. Our Tour continues onto Rouen, Capital of the Upper Normandy whitch Cathedral Notre Dame was immortalised by Claude Monet in his famous serie of the Glorious Gothic West front. After the visit of the cathedral; walking tour along the main pedestrian street of le Gros Horloge through the heart of the medieval quarter lined with Norman half –timbered buildings very nicely restored.

Depart from Paris by coach through the roads of "la Marne" to the cemetery of "BOIS BELLEAU" commemorating the terrible battles of World War I. Arriving at EPERNAY, we will visit the cellars and taste the famous champagne of MOET & CHANDON. After lunch, we will follow the road crossing the "mountain" of REIMS to see the world famous vineyards. At the end of the route is the capital of the region, REIMS.
